Seven Night Alpine Hiking and Culinary Tour

TOUR DATES: JULY 4-11, 2026

Seven Night Summer Retreat in the Aletsch Arena, Canton of Valais, Switzerland

with chef and award-winning author

Tania Teschke

TOUR overview

Discover the majestic alpine beauty and traditions of Switzerland’s Valais Canton in the Swiss Alps with award-winning cookbook author and food and wine expert Tania Teschke, who will lead you through culinary, bonding, and inspirational experiences while hiking in the Swiss Alps!

Hike the pristine mountain paths and dip into glacial lakes and streams while discovering how alpine food, water, herbs, and lifestyle bring joy and build health and strength.

During the unique six-day, seven-night exploration, you’ll stay in a lovely Swiss chalet at 1,950 meters (6,400 feet) elevation, learn Swiss and French-inspired recipes, take gondolas, chairlifts and hikes to and around the awe-inspiring Aletsch Glacier, learn about the local alpine herbs and flowers, sample local cheeses and meats, and take side trips to see the beautiful Oeschinensee in Kandersteg and to the secluded Lötschental Valley. The alpine sunshine, air, and glacial waters will renew your vitality. You will come away relaxed, stronger, and inspired!

The rusticity and natural beauty of the Swiss Alps and the greater Aletsch Arena area provide a stunning background for this inspiring and revitalizing week, which celebrates the healthy, traditional foods of Swiss Alpine peoples and incorporates the Wise Traditions Diet of the Weston A. Price Foundation. Together, we will experience the joy of bonding as we cook, eat, hike, and explore the Swiss Alps.

Tania’s understanding of the location, culture, and languages will help you gain a meaningful connection to this unique place!

Meals at the chalet

Chef & Tour Guide Tania Teschke

Chalet Breakfasts will consist of eggs, cold cuts, breads, butter, cheeses,  jams, muesli, and yogurt. We will have a rotating schedule of meal prep and clean-up for everyone to participate. After breakfast, we will make picnic lunches for the day’s hike.

Picnic Lunches will consist of local cheeses, charcuterie, bread, and chocolate! These are easy-to-carry “hiker’s” lunches. Each person will pack their own lunch with our supplies each morning right after breakfast before a hike. Some snack foods will be provided, but participants may also buy their own snacks/foods/beverages during the Trip – at the grocery stores and cafés.

Chalet Dinners will be warm, gourmet cheese- and meat-based meals of Rösti, Bratwurst Pork Roast, Raclette, Käseschnitte, Gulaschsuppe (meat stew) and more! Each trip participant will help Tania with table setting, prepping, cooking, and cleaning up at three or more chalet meals. There will be a sign-up sheet to plan the meal help for the week. More help is welcome, and helping with meals is also a chance to learn about the food & recipes being prepared!

HEALING FOR THE SOUL

“This was definitely a dream trip for me- hiking in these beloved green mountains with the flora and fauna, eating life-giving food, conversations with people who live with joy and hope and appreciation of ancestral wisdom, time and space to clear one’s head and take in the natural order of life… such healing for the soul.  I will cherish these memories and the growth I experienced.  So grateful for Tania’s heart to share these gifts with others!”
